Eddie was born in York-North Yorkshire and his first musical influences came from the church where he was both a choir boy and a bell ringer. At school he performed in lots of musicals including Oliver The Jericho Jazz, Joseph and his amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and various other bits and pieces which included  performing in the York  City Guildhall singing the Rachmaninov  Vespers in phonetic Russian at the age of 15.
Pop influences came from the 70's and bands like Mud, Sweet, Status Quo and the Sex Pistols and of course Elvis Presley, and lots of British and  American 50's Music.  Before Eddie had left school, he had started DJing in various youth clubs and night clubs in the York area and by 1979 had his own mobile disco set up-the now legendary 'Outer Limits Disco' with Eddie being nicknamed 'the Disco Kid'.  Through this he got meet lots of 80's stars like Spandau Ballet, Modern Romance, Adam and the Ants, Wham, and Duran Duran.  Eddie also developed a bit of a comedy routine involving impressions and  finishing off with an Elvis Song.  He won several Talent shows and made it to the National Finals of the Coca Cola 'Search for A Star' on the Isle Of Wight.
In the late 1980's Eddie went to work in a holiday camp as a DJ, but one of the first things he was told to do was to sing.  Every  Wednesday night he had to perform with the resident Duo-the songs being Blue Suede Shoes/Lets Have a Party and My Way. The following season Eddie worked as an Entertainments manager at another site-this time having to perform his own show every Saturday and every Friday night. By now he knew an amazing 6 Elvis Songs and a few standards.  On his return to York, many people who had seen him sing at the holiday site asked him if he would do private parties. With only 10 songs in his repertoire this was hardly possible, but Eddie linked up with Rick Anthony and Danny Fisher-2 local impersonators and asked them to do a show with him.  Following this Eddie built his knowledge of Elvis Lyrics up to 55 songs in just 3 weeks!   In 1994 Eddie set the World Record for Performing Elvis Songs-228 in 12 hours and as a result was invited on to several TV Shows.  He also appeared on Sky's Jepoardy Quiz show with Paul Ross and won 5 shows in a row and a total of £3000!!
Eddie got a local agent called Buddy Graham ( another well known Elvis Act) to give him some work and his reputation began to build up. As well as singing in Pubs and Clubs he entered more Talent shows one being the Benson and Hedges Golden Mike-but was beaten by an outstanding Female Vocalist in the quarter finals.
He also enters the North East Search for a Star and has been a regional Grand Finalist 3 times!
Lots more interest from the Tv companies followed in 1998 and 1999 following an appearance on 'Vanessa' for Elvis's Birthday on 8th January.  This featured an  interview with Eddie's wife Jane, who said how much she hated listening to him practice Elvis Songs and watch videos of him day after day.   It also featured a classic performance of 'The Wonder of You' (available on the 'Caught In the Act' CD) which showed millions of viewers that Eddie was actually a damn good singer!
After this Eddie beat more than 300 other Elvis acts into a spot on the National Lottery Show, performing 'Blue Suede Shoes' as the Yorkshre Elvis.  C5 then got in touch with Eddie to do a 'Rockumentary ' on his lifestyle in the Family Confidential Series entitled 'Elvis Is a House Husband'  It got loads of publicity and was one of C5's highest ratings show since they had started.
Following this, Alan Laud Hope invited Eddie to represent York on behalf of the Monster Raving Loony Party.  Eddie is the party's Official Elvis and  will be standing for Election in York in the 2001 General Election as the  The Yorkshire Elvis, Minister for Yorkshire Tea, Yorkshire Puddings and Elvis Music, with one of his main aims to get an Elvis Presley Memorial Garden set up in the Museum Gardens in York.

Eddie has always believed -like Elvis himself-that you should always try to do your bit to help others worse off than yourself and has done loads of charity shows over the last 15 years-several as a DJ but lots more as 'The Yorkshire Elvis'. In the year 2000 he broke through the £50,000 mark for money he helped raise.
Charity has its own rewards though....
On Millenium Eve 1999 Eddie was invited to sing in London - not to raise money-but as part of a show for Crisis UK-which helps look after Homeless people and also create awareness about their plight. Guest of honour was Princess Anne, who chatted to eddie and his wife and children for a few minutes prior to the show. She never admitted to being an Elvis Presley fan, but did accept a complimentary CD from Eddie.  Amongst the other acts were the chart toppping 'Dodgy' and the compere from the 'Buddy Holly Story' hit Musical.Although asked to do just a 20 minute spot Eddie ended up performing for an hour and a half-finishing just in time for the Millenium Fireworks display.
In August 2000, Eddie was invited to appear on a little known quiz show called 'The Weakest Link' which has since acquired cult status. His show will be broadcast sometime in November and he has since then been back to record another episode which will air on December 8th.
For those interested Anne Robinson was very nice away from the set and also admitted to being a big Elvis fan with 'You Are Always On My Mind' being one of her favourite Elvis Presley songs.
